The Best Cafes in Medellin for Digital Nomads

Medellin is one fo the best places in Colombia for cafes and fast internet connections. Here’s a list of the best cafes in Medellin, for remote workers, expats, and locals alike. They all feature free, workable WiFi, locally sourced and roasted coffee, and good all-around vibes.

Pergamino Cafe

One of the most popular coffee shops in Medellin is Pergamino! It has two locations in El Poblado. Both have their own small charms to differentiate them from each other. I usually work from Calle 10B. The Calle 10B location features two stories, with a long bar to work from and comfortable chairs to lounge in. The Carrera 37 location boasts ample outdoor seating . Both locations serve great coffee and espresso shots. I LOVE espresso shots haha. Their food is also better than most cafes in the surrounding area. Each Pergamino location is equipped with an excess of power outlets, making both of them desirable spots for remote workers that like to stick to one spot all day to work.

Location: Carrera 37 – Cra. 37 ##8A-37, Medellín, Antioquia, Colombia

Calle 10B – Cl 10B #No 36-38, Medellín, Antioquia, Colombia

Internet: Very strong

Power outlets: Several all over both locations

Work vibe: Maybe the best, depending on location; Carrera 37 offers a large outdoor seating area great for meetings and working in the sun, while also offering a large indoor area that is set up much like a workstation with plenty of outlets and sturdy tables; Calle 10B offers two floors of workspace with some areas quieter than others to suit everybody’s needs; both locations are always full of people on laptops working away

Food: Pretty good for breakfast and has yummy lunch options like avocado toast.

Matilde Cafe

Matilde has a great vibe, with an atmosphere that welcomes those looking to get work done as well as those looking to unwind with a good book and an even better cup of Joe. I love the look & feel of this cafe. It is located next to Pergamino. I like this place because it’s well designed, has both indoor and outdoor space, great food options, and multiple seating options. A solid place to work from on a rainy weekday in Medellin, which at times occur with regularity.

Location: Cl 10B ###36-30, Medellín, Antioquia

Internet: Above average; good enough to work with, but not quite as good as some of the other places (it has stopped working for me before)

Power outlets: Several outlets scattered across the cafe

Work vibe: Amazing; cozy and colorful interior, a-lot of pink, feminine feel filled with people working while enjoying delicious food & coffee

Food: I like their food. There were several options.

Cafe Velvet

It is a cool cafe with a bright wall of cascading greenery that will give you all the best workspace vibes. This modern cafe has both indoor and outdoor seating options. The WiFi at Café Velvet is very reliable and fast, the natural lighting (best on sunny days) is perfect for work, and the atmosphere is ideal for both meetings and calls. The only downside is that power plugs are limited. It has a good selection of food that includes pastries, soups, salads, and empanadas. There’s also a daily special menu. The overall vibe is incredible, with trees and plants adorning the walls to create a cozy, nature feel.

Location: Cra. 37 ##8A 46, Medellín, Antioquia, Colombia

Internet: Very strong

Power outlets: One of the major drawbacks to working from here (though it doesn’t stop a sizeable group of remote workers who share the outlets or simply run on battery power)

Work vibe: The trees and plants offer a nice nature feel which some people find relaxing for work or to meet a client

Food: The food is great. I really liked the appetizers they offer.

Selina Medellin & Co-work

Selina offers a nice mix of outdoor seating for sunny mornings and cozy indoor seating for rainy days. They have great food options and even a bar to work from. There are a lot of different places to work from including booths, private rooms and open spaces with a jungle vibe within this Selina. Top it all off with some pretty decent coffee, juice and smoothies and you’ve got yourself the perfect place to spend at least a few mornings every week.

Location: Cra. 32d #9 - 17, Medellín, Antioquia

Internet: Great!

Power outlets: Many outlets upstairs and downstairs

Work vibe: Private paid coworking area and open area for digital nomads with no membership to work from. A lot of people but everyone is very friendly. The staff is nice and it is a bright, colorful spot to work from.

Food: Probably the least expensive food on this list. Love the breakfast & lunch in this lovely place
